This branch is responsible for surveillance, prevention and control of communicable diseases in Queensland. Leads state-wide planning and co-ordination of programs and services to prevent or control communicable diseases, including pandemic and biosecurity planning. Carries out state-wide surveillance of a range of communicable diseases, including monitoring trends, detecting outbreaks and providing a response and monitoring to ensure the effectiveness of disease control activities. Co-ordinates and manages the purchase and distribution of vaccines across QLD.
