Tropical Regional Services (TRS) provides an integrated and specialised approach to:
protecting health,
preventing disease, illness and injury,
promoting health and well-being.
TRS focuses on the health and well-being of populations, rather than individuals and provides localised public health services in north Queensland, with offices at Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, and Mount Isa and Gulf.
TRS works for a population of over 600,000 people, from St Lawrence south of Mackay to the northernmost islands of the Torres Strait.
Key functions:
communicable disease control,
health promotion,
health surveillance,
medical entomology,
environmental health,
public health nutrition.
