Based at South Brisbane and the Townsville Base Hospital, the Queensland Hearing Loss Family Support Service provides a State-wide service to the families of infants and children who are deaf or have permanent hearing loss. The service offers families support, advocacy, assistance in coordinating medical, educational and early intervention services and counselling. All babies are automatically referred by Healthy Hearing if they have a result of 'refer' on the Newborn hearing screening test. For older children please ring QHLFSS directly to make a referral.
