The Mobile Women's Health Service is a component of Mount Isa Sexual Health Team which provide a free and confidential service. The service enhances the health and well-being of women in rural and remote areas of North West Queensland.
The Mobile Women's Health Service is based on the belief that each woman is unique, has the right to the be treated with respect and must have the opportunity to be involved in decisions about her health care.
The Mobile Women's Health Service can assist and support all women, by providing culturally appropriate information, clinical services and promotion of healthy life choices.
The Mobile Women's Health Service works with men, women and groups to provide a number of services.
Services provided includes but are not limited to:
- cervical screening (Pap smears)
- breast self-awareness
- menopause information
- family planning and contraception information
- menstrual cycle concerns
- sexual health screening
- pregnancy information - pregnancy options, discussion, pre-conceptual care, antenatal and postnatal care
- information relating to domestic and sexual abuse
- healthy lifestyle choice information
Referrals can be made by any clinical staff or patients and their families may self-refer.
