Buderim Medicare Urgent Care Clinic
Open Until 10PM
General Practice
Welcome to Buderim Urgent Care Clinic, Our clinic offers free, immediate treatment for non-life-threatening conditions, providing priority care without the need for emergency department visits or when your medical need cannot wait for a GP appointment. Our urgent care clinic is supported by highly skilled independent doctors and nurses, utilising excellent treatment and procedure room facilities.
The Medicare UCC is not a replacement for your regular GP. You should check appointment availability with your usual general practice clinic before presenting to the Medicare UCC. Medicare UCCs are for when your condition is urgent, but not life-threatening. Services are bulk-billed for Medicare card holders.
Clinics can treat:
* Minor infections
* Minor fractures, sprains, sports injuries and minor neck and back pain
* Pain with urinating (UTIs)
* Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
* Minor cuts
* Insect bites and rashes
* Minor eye and ear infections
* Respiratory illness
* Symptoms of gastroenteritis, such as persistent diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea or fever
* mild burns
Urgent Care Clinic has a ‘surge protocol’ like many others in Australia and New Zealand. If the number of patient presentations overwhelms the doctor – nurse – receptionist model which can be unsafe, or, if there are more presentations able to be seen before closing, the clinic may go into ‘surge protocol’. Patients will then be triaged by the nurse and if safe, referred to other medical services (e.g. emergency department) or asked to return for consultation at a later time, or even the next day.
• Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (UCCs) can provide urgent care for blood borne viruses (BBVs) and sexually transmissible infections (STIs).
• This includes:
o Testing and treatment of syphilis and other STIs where the person presents with symptoms or risk factors which indicate urgent testing and/or treatment.
o Opportunistic testing of syphilis in pregnant people.
o HIV Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP).
• While Medicare UCCs can provide this care, they are not required to stock HIV PEP or medicines for treatment of STIs.
• Hospital and Health Services and Primary Health Networks (PHNs) should work together to ensure locally appropriate pathways for the urgent care of BBVs and STIs.
