Counselling Service
Mura Kosker is located in the Torres Strait region. We provide culturally appropriate specialised counselling to perpetrators and victims and children witness to domestic & family violence. We offer mobile playgroups (in selected locations), Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), parenting information and advice and practical parenting support. We help families with children and young people between 0-5 years old by promoting their safety and wellbeing. We offer information advice and referral, community living support, community, cultural and group development, personal and social support development activities for Seniors aged over 50 yrs old to improve their social participation in the community, to reduce fear of crime, to increase their sense of safety and security in their community. We encourage linking yumpla Seniors to thempla community. Mura Kosker in conjunction with The Benevolent Society have been engaged to provide specialist supports to vulnerable Families addressing multiple levels of need, building their capacity to care, provide a safe and caring home for children. The Mura Buai program works with Families and those who are parenting young people between 0-18 years old. We offer prevention and early intervention strategies, support and assistance when in crisis, practical and informative assistance, practical parenting advice and support and in-home support and guidance. In conjunction with the Salvation Army we offer families and community members the financial support to purchase grocery items
