Older People Speak out is an advocacy organisation, who use action research, interviews and focus groups to find community needs and solutions. Where possible we work with the community to establish solutions. Where this is not possible, we consult and work with governments. We also give community groups the skills that will empower them. For example, we run courses on working with the media, working with government, getting your message across and making effective complaints. We work closely with the media to ensure the voice of older people is heard, and conduct Media Awards each year to encourage the media to do positive stories about older people and their issues. We do not run an advocacy service for individual clients.
