Emergency Service
The Department of Emergency Services is an umbrella organisation that recognises and promotes the distinct and unique histories, cultures and operational roles of Queensland Fire and Rescue Authority, Queensland Ambulance Service and Emergency Management Queensland, together with our key support services.
The agency provides world-class emergency and disaster services by focusing on effective frontline service delivery, while working closely with Queensland communities and Local Government. Our priority is also to raise community awareness of how to prevent or minimise the impact of emergencies or disasters.
Our services will contribute to the following outcomes for Queenslanders:
A reduction in the rate of preventable fire deaths
An increase in the number of homes with operational smoke alarms
Improved survival rate for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest victims
Improved community awareness of what to do in an emergency or disaster Increased percentage of the community with current CPR and first aid skills
Disaster mitigation plans developed by State agencies, Local Governments and community councils.
