Medicare Mental Health Phone Service (previously HTHPS)
* The Medicare Mental Health phone service is designed to operate alongside Medicare Mental Health centres and satellites and the Medicare Mental Health digital platform to provide a suite of entry points to engagement, assessment and treatment for people with a range of mental health needs.
* It is a nationally consistent 1800 number and callers are prompted to enter their postcode (or State if unknown) and transferred to their local PHN region.
* Phoneline operates 08.30 - 17.00
* Each PHN operationalises slightly differently depending on how PHN has commissioned - there are national guidelines.
* MMHPS will work with consumers, carers, providers (secondary consult) with regards to mental health service navigation. While we are not a crisis line, all MMHPS regions will have escalation pathways established with their local HHS (MH Call) for consumers experiencing acute mental health distress.
