The Rural Allied & Community Health Team have introduced the new program which is available to people with a range of cardiac and pulmonary related conditions. All that is needed is a referral from the treating hospital, general practitioner or cardiologist.
It offers education from a range of allied health and nursing professionals on topics including heart and lungs and risk factor management, energy conservation, understanding medication, depression and self-managing emotion.
The eight-week program is based on the National Heart Foundations Heart Online and the Lung Foundation Australia programs, ensuring best-practice, evidence-based care is provided. People can access the program at Mundubbera, Eidsvold, Gayndah and Biggenden with bran new gym equipment being used at each location.
