MBR Health (previously Mermaid Beach Radiology) is a Gold Coast-based diagnostic imaging, pain interventional and clinical research facility offering advanced MRI, Spectral CT, ultrasound, X-ray and image-guided procedures for patients across Queensland.
Our MRI service operates on a research-grade, quantitative 3T Philips Ingenia Elition X platform, providing high-resolution imaging across a broad range of clinical applications. Specialist MRI capabilities include advanced spinal and nerve imaging, MRI Discography for the non-invasive assessment of spinal disc pathology, and MR Neurography for peripheral and spinal nerve assessment. These services are particularly valuable for patients with complex back, neck and nerve pain where conventional imaging has not provided a clear diagnosis.
MBR Health operates the Philips IQon Spectral CT, the first spectral CT scanner introduced into private radiology practice in Australia. Spectral CT provides quantitative tissue characterisation and material differentiation from a single examination, with optimised protocols that significantly reduce radiation and contrast dose compared to conventional multi-phase CT.
Our regenerative medicine program offers image-guided biologic therapies including platelet-rich plasma for musculoskeletal, neurological and other conditions, supported by dedicated platelet quantification to ensure consistent and reproducible treatment delivery.
Referrals are accepted from GPs, specialists and allied health providers. MBR Health is a mixed billing provider, with some advanced services are privately billed.

MBR Health accepts all referrals from general practitioners, medical specialists, or registered health professional for all diagnostic imaging and clinical services. A valid referral is required for most imaging examinations and procedures. Some services, such as DEXA body composition scanning, do not require a referral. Please contact our reception team to discuss referral requirements for your specific examination prior to booking.

MBR Health has a team member fluent in Mandarin Chinese available at reception to assist patients who prefer to communicate in Mandarin. Patients are welcome to request Mandarin language assistance when booking their appointment.
Our imaging equipment also provides scan instructions and scan progress updates in a range of languages, supporting patients from diverse linguistic backgrounds during their examination.
MBR Health is a child-friendly imaging facility with a dedicated children's playroom and child-themed X-ray room, designed to help young patients and their families feel calm and comfortable during their visit. Our reception team is experienced in supporting families with young children and welcomes patients of all ages including paediatric patients across all imaging modalities.
