Also known as Ipswich Urgent Care Clinic (UCC)

Open Until 10PM
General Practice, Emergency Service
Ipswich Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is located at the Riverlink Medical and Dental Centre. The Medicare UCC is not a replacement for your regular GP. You should check appointment availability with your usual general practice clinic before presenting to the Medicare UCC. Medicare UCCs are for when your condition is urgent, but not life-threatening. Services are bulk-billed for Medicare card holders. Clinics can treat: * minor infections * minor fractures, sprains, sports injuries and sudden onset neck and back pain * urinary tract infections (UTIs) * sexually transmitted infections (STIs) * minor cuts * insect bites and rashes * minor eye and ear infections * respiratory illness * gastroenteritis * mild burns Urgent Care Clinic has a ‘surge protocol’ like many others in Australia and New Zealand. If the number of patient presentations overwhelms the doctor – nurse – receptionist model which can be unsafe, or, if there are more presentations able to be seen before closing, the clinic may go into ‘surge protocol’. Patients will then be triaged by the nurse and if safe, referred to other medical services (e.g. emergency department) or asked to return for consultation at a later time, or even the next day.
