Carina - Carindale Medicare Urgent Care Clinic
Closed
General Practice
Carina - Carindale Medicare Urgent Care Clinic gives you and your family more options to see a doctor when urgent, but not life-threatening, care is needed.
Carina - Carindale Medicare Urgent Care Clinic provides services for acute needs only and ongoing care should be managed by your usual GP. Carina Medicare Urgent Care Clinic does not provide treatment for regular check ups or complex conditions. Please see your GP for non-urgent, routine and preventative health care.
The Medicare UCC is not a replacement for your regular GP. You should check appointment availability with your usual general practice clinic before presenting to the Medicare UCC. Medicare UCCs are for when your condition is urgent, but not life-threatening. Services are bulk-billed for Medicare card holders.
Clinics can treat:
* Minor infections
* Minor fractures, sprains, sports injuries and minor neck and back pain
* Pain with urinating (UTIs)
* Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
* Minor cuts
* Insect bites and rashes
* Minor eye and ear infections
* Respiratory illness
* Symptoms of gastroenteritis, such as persistent diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea or fever
* mild burns
Urgent Care Clinic has a ‘surge protocol’ like many others in Australia and New Zealand. If the number of patient presentations overwhelms the doctor – nurse – receptionist model which can be unsafe, or, if there are more presentations able to be seen before closing, the clinic may go into ‘surge protocol’. Patients will then be triaged by the nurse and if safe, referred to other medical services (e.g. emergency department) or asked to return for consultation at a later time, or even the next day.
Pathology and radiology onsite.
