The Hughenden Multipurpose Health Service provides inpatient, outpatient and emergency care services 24-hours a day, seven days a week, and has six long-stay nursing home-type beds. Telehealth services are available via video conference to link patients with specialist services, reducing the need for patients to travel away. The medical superintendent is the general practitioner for the town which allows for seamless services to patients. The Hughenden Multipurpose Health Service facilitates access to the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme for eligible patients who need to travel away for specialist procedures and tests not available locally or via telehealth. The Hughenden Multipurpose Health Service provides a home base for several visiting services including dental, women's health, allied health and mental health. Community-based staff also provide school-based health support and child health services.

This is a free service. - Treatment is free for Australian citizens and permanent residents but pharmacy dispensations will be charged for. - Visitors/Travellers from overseas who are residents of a country with a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement with Australia can access public hospital care free of charge for medically necessary treatment. - Visitors/Travellers from overseas or residents with the right to work in Australia may be charged for treatment. Please ask about this when you present to the hospital.
