This health centre offers a limited range of primary health and emergency care services, including chronic disease, maternal and child care, lifestyle and emotional well-being, environmental health and mental health. Allied Health outreach teams (oral health, podiatry, dietician, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, diabetes educator) visit the island regularly and midwives also attend on an as-needed basis for antenatal checks. The nearest referral service to Iama is Thursday Island Hospital. Men's and women's health clinics are also available on a regular basis through the Royal Flying Doctor Service, and Queensland Health provides a number of fly-in, fly-out specialist services including an optometrist. •Visiting medical officer outreach visits, usually 3 weekly cycles •Public health in response to communicable disease outbreaks
