Way to Wellness Program
The NEXUS program aims to target young people from refugee backgrounds aged 12 to 24 years who are at risk of suicide, provide prevention, early intervention and crisis management activities such as individual counselling, school outreach activities and school holiday activities, promote wellbeing and build resilience by increasing connectedness, locus of control and perceived academic performance for young people and reduce the impact of risk factors associated with the refugee experience such as loss, grief and family breakdown. QPASTT (Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma) provides flexible and culturally sensitive trauma recovery services to promote the health and wellbeing of people who have been tortured or who have suffered refugee related torture or trauma prior to migrating to Australia. This includes children and young people whose wellbeing is impacted by their parent’s refugee trauma experience.
