Advocacy Service
Citizen Advocacy service for people with a disability. The work of Capricorn Citizen Advocacy is underpinned by recognition of the vulnerability of socially isolated people with cognitive disability, to abuse, neglect and exploitation. Suitable community members with skills and standing are carefully recruited, and then carefully matched into freely-given advocacy relationships which safeguard and enrich both parties’ lives.
Our Vantage Point advocacy service provides a free, short-term, non-legal advocacy advice service to support people with disability to safeguard their rights, experience equality and overcome barriers. Information, advice, and onwards referral (where relevant) will be provided via phone or other communication mode at a mutually suitable time.
Those seeking the service must:
Have a disability and be prepared to disclose their details, and
Have access to a phone, and preferably also be able to receive emails, and
Be willing and able to engage in conversation (either verbal, typed or other mutually suitable format) or have someone able to do this for them during the appointment, and
