Disability Service and Support Organisation
The Sporting Wheelies (and Disabled Sport and Recreation Association of Queensland Inc.) is the peak body for the promotion of sport, recreation and fitness for people with a physical disability or vision impairment in Queensland. Just as Aussie Sports have been adapted from main stream sports for children, sports for people with physical disabilities are modified to suit particular disabilities. The Association has access to qualified coaches and members train at top class venues with modern facilities and can assist you in gaining classification. An aim of the Association is to assist athletes with physical disabilities to train and compete in settings relevant to the individual needs i.e. with other athletes with disabilities or able- bodied athletes. Further to competing in domestic competitions, those athletes with potential can qualify to compete in specific overseas competition such as World Championships and the Paralympics.
