Older Persons Mental Health Service - Toowoomba
Open 24 Hours
Mental Health
The Older Persons Mental Health Service provides community based services to people over 65 who require both specialist psychiatric and aged mental health services. These include people presenting with a mental disorder which has arisen for the first time; or a mental disorder, and who have become physically disabled (or suffer multiple medical illnesses related to ageing) or a significant behavioural disturbance complicating late onset psychiatric disorders and/or dementia. Age is not
the principle criterion identifying the target group of the Older Persons Mental Health Service, however, services are generally for persons over the age of 65. Advice can be
obtained on the management and the role of other community organisations which assist in the care of the older person by phoning the Team Leader/Intake Officer
